capacity with a secondary motive: Early morning and late evening light in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. My eclectic education includes formal training in art, geology and history. My informal training has filled my studio with a large art and reference library. I have traveled widely across the US and most of Europe, visiting Art Museums and Galleries as often as possible. The Western Image in Moab is my exclusive gallery affiliation. I am committed to help Moab develop as the Arts Destination that it deserves to be. Currently I am a board member of the Moab Arts and Recreation Center and a member of the Moab Arts Alliance. The Arts Alliance promotes 3 open studio tours per year, two in September and one in December. This year I will open my studio for four days in September. (Sept. 2,3, 9, 10) For more information on the Moab Artists Studio Tour visit www.moabstudiotour.com In 2005 I was one of 29 artists chosen to paint a puma for San Juan Mountain Authority's "Pumas on Parade" project. My Puma was purchased by the City of Moab and is on permanent display at the Moab City Office building You can see all 29 pumas at www.sjma.org. I hope you enjoy my work, perhaps a bit of the soul of this special place will speak to you through my paintings.
I am passionate about the Colorado Plateau. A fourth generation native, I was raised on the cowboy and mining lore of the area. Living in Moab, Utah provides me a wealth subject matter: the landscape, inhabitants, flora, fauna, weather patterns and historical events of the Colorado Plateau. My preferred medium is oil on canvas. I discovered a natural affinity for oils at an early age. I also work in watercolors, pastel, pen and ink and graphite on a regular basis and love to experiment with other media. I enjoy working en plein air, but much of my subject matter is very remote, so I'm often horseback, jeeping, hiking or boating with a bevy of cameras looking for reference shots. The local red rock scenery has long drawn commercial film crews. I often work in some Art Department
